They Are Lying to Us
They lied to our family. Over and over and over again.
The military did. The Department of Defense, or as the murderer running the place now likes to call it – the Department of War. Which really if you think about it is a far more fitting title, given the amount of havoc the US has wrought around the world, and this administration in particular is waging against Venezuelans and even among us, the American people.
Had I not been a journalist. Had I not covered the story of a young boy murdered by his own step-father. Had I not studied those crime scene photos. Had I not read the child’s autopsy report and made the connection to the lies told to me as a child. Had I not then spent three years pursuing my father’s own autopsy report.

Three years because I kept getting denial after denial. For some reason, the military did not want me to see those records. You don’t suppose it was because they lied to our family all those decades prior, do you?
Covering up is what they do best. The DOD. Or Department of War, or perhaps Department of Cover-Ups would be a more fitting title.
They, of course, never apologized for lying. Never acknowledged at all that they had lied. Just finally sent me two separate “after-action reports”. The first one claiming Dad died as a result of incoming mortar. The second one claiming it was mortar from inside the camp. From the very horwitzer cannon that Dad,”Chief of Smoke”, oversaw.
Lies.
To protect the family. That was the rationalization they spouted, whenever anyone in the military tried to explain it to me.
What difference does it make? my own mother asked. It won’t change anything.

True, knowing the truth didn’t bring my dad back from the dead. Just as knowing who ordered the murder of those clinging to the side of a boat just bombed won’t bring any of those murdered back to life.
But what matters is knowing when elected leaders are lying to us. It matters because when the government is able to murder people indiscriminately, with no accountability, it puts each of us at risk.
If Hegseth and Trump can lie about murdering people,, what’s to stop them from murdering you or me, or one of children, or grands?
It matters when your government lies to you.
Perhaps it doesn’t matter to MAGA Republicans.
But it matters for national security and personal security.
The truth is Hegseth nor Trump can be trusted.
And no one supporting them can be either.
We teach our children to not lie. Should we expect any less from our elected leaders?
There has been absolutely no evidence provided that any of the 80 people Trump and Hegseth have murdered were in fact drug runners. We are told to take them at their word. We are supposed to trust them.
But take from someone who has been on the receiving end of the lies – these men cannot be trusted.
Demand the evidence. Demand the proof.
Oh, one more thing … It’s not a war crime when there’s no war. It’s just plain outright murder. No less evil than the butchering of a journalist named Jamal Khashoggi.

about 1 month agoThe start of an old joke: "How do you know when a politician is lying?" I remember when Dr. Anthony Fauci admitted publicly that he is a liar, saying that he lied to the public because he believed he would lose his job if he told the truth. It seems to me that today few people are actually scrupulous to always tell the truth. For example I believe most people will affirm on an electronic or paper form "I have read and agree to [the above several paragraphs of 'fine print']" without having read or made any attempt to read what they say they have. In evaluating politicians, since dishonesty seems nearly universal, it seems to me better to evaluate based on whether they seem to have good intentions at heart primarily in what they do. President Trump, it seems to me, is attacking those boats because he is trying to save Americans from being destroyed by dangerous drugs trafficked by murderous criminals. He desires to end the deadly war in the Ukraine and to prevent foreign countries from sabotaging the US with espionage and mind control tactics. Sensible Venezuelans know that President Maduro has destroyed their country and would be happy if the United States would remove him. I'm not saying this would be the right thing to do, but I believe in possibly pursuing this President Trump would be motivated more by love for Venezuelans in general than any animosity towards them. But back to the initial point: Yes, people should stop lying and expecting other people to lie. In the revelation of our Lord Jesus to the apostle John we learn that "all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death" (Revelation 21:8). Thus, please, everyone, do not lie, even if it costs you, and repent before it is too late!

about 1 month agoI perhaps over-spoke: it is possible that Dr. Fauci since then has repented and now is committed to being honest; there may actually be some number of politicians who desire to be honest and are not simply seeking to promote their own selves without regard to truth; and finally, since I do not know President Trump's heart, I should probably have written instead that seeking to remove President Maduro would be more in accordance with love for Venezuelans in general than with animosity towards them. May those who read these words desire to know truth and find blessing in a true knowledge of our Lord Jesus, the Savior of the world!

about 4 weeks agoThank you, Karen, for at least calling me crazy and not evil. In this I am in the good company of our Savior, Whom they said had "a demon", and of the apostle Paul, whom King Agrippa said had been driven mad by his "much learning". In a corrupt and irrational society it makes sense that reason and honesty should seem like madness. But if I have written anything incorrect above, that I did not correct, please do me the kindness of telling me what so that I might learn, rather than trying to dismiss it with a quasi-insult.
