Seriously, Princess (Duchess) Kate?

Oh, my, lands. Did you see the photo of Princess/Duchess Kate a mere 12 hours after delivering her daughter who weighed over 8 pounds?

Kate

She looks amazing! I mean her hair is washed, dried and curled. She is smiling jubilantly.

And who can blame her? Her daughter is precious as all get out. And a real princess to boot. (Though, I could not handle that life at all. I am way too private to want to live under all that hovering.)

I have a daughter who just gave birth and another one about to and I can tell you that neither one of my daughters looks like this afterwards.

They take more after their mother.

And this is how I looked after birthing my babies:

Monke

I was not standing in heels 12 hours after laboring. I could barely waddle to the bathroom much less greet my adoring public.

I love Kate. I do. I think she is God’s gift to Will after all that trauma with his mother. (And yes, I bet one of the 12 names the baby gets is Diana).

But I have to tell you, seeing her this way, so picture perfect hours after birthing her girl makes me reconsider our friendship. I mean how can you be friends with someone like that?

I need friends who will get down and dirty with me.

I feel so sorry for the poor girls who are currently pregnant, like my Ashley or my niece Nicole, who might look at Princess/Duchess Kate and think that might be the standard they have to emulate.

And all those men out there who look at Kate and wonder why their wives don’t look like that when they leave the hospital.

As if it isn’t bad enough that all those women in those viral videos are squeezing into their eight-year-old daughter’s pants three weeks later. Or prancing around in a bikini on some exotic island four weeks after delivering darling babies. Now we have Kate looking all sunshiney-golden, like she went in for a pedicure and came out with a baby.

Listen, if your husband gives you a hard time about not looking like Princess/Duchess Kate, tell him to buy you a home like this.

And a staff of helpers like this:

And to start treating you like the future Queen, and don’t forget the jewels:

And you, too, can look just as good as Princess/Duchess Kate only hours after giving birth.

Until then, you might want to keep your expectations to a minimum. Giving birth is a lot of work – unless you are Kate, and then, it’s only a brief stop in the maternity ward. But for most of us, the process of giving birth is exhausting.

It’s okay to look bedraggled afterwards. If anyone gives you grief about that, tell them I gave you permission.

Thanks, Nancy. While the Brits make regard Kate as nothing more special than a Duchess and make those fine distinctions in titles, here in redneck 'Merica, we are taught from our earliest fairytales that any girl good enough to marry a Prince earns the title of Princess. So while the English make not consider Kate's blood blue enough, we 'Mericans know that all blood runs red. To us - or at least to me - Kate's a princess.

I agree with Karen. And our family were friends with the first King of England, way back then and there. Times are still like that.

Kate would give Diana a run for her money that's for sure. I think Diana would love her.

I love Kate! With her life always in the limelight, I feel she handles herself just fine. She does understand her role and is making the best of it; while maintaining her dignity. I am sure that each of us, our daughters and granddaughters too, would look our best too if you are going to be seen by billions around the world. Sure, she will be criticized no matter what, so you might as well look your best!

Yes, I think we all try to look our best but my best looks more like that monkey than it looks like Kate!

Poor Kate would've been slaughtered by the press world wide if she'd walked out of the hospital wearing trackies and ponytail in hair, poor woman can't get a break, bet she threw those heels across the room when she got home loll
