Make Rich Happen
I attended Lynn Haven Methodist Church with Milinda & her family yesterday. When I drove up, I was greeted by motorcyclists and flag-bearers. I texted Milinda and asked if perhaps I missed the memo about the leathers.
She sent me a text back to say it was Boy Scout Sunday and that’s why the welcoming committee. I was also greeted by the associate pastor who was limping around on crutches with a sign tacked to the back of his collar that read: “Hurt it playing basketball.”Milinda said he must have grown weary answering the question. I asked her son who the associate pastor played basketball with. “Himself,” he said. Lynn Haven had a visiting pastor yesterday. He’d just returned from Scotland where he helped plant two churches. I couldn’t help but wonder what Peter Marshall would think of that. Now he’s headed to Boston to plant churches there. I didn’t know that 25 percent of all the world’s leaders are educated in Boston, did you? Well, anyway, the pastor gave a good word. My favorite quote of which was: “Information leads to Speculation. Revelation leads to Transformation.”
After church, Milinda’s wonderful daughter — that’s her in the middle on the couch — directed me to their home where I joined the group for Sunday School.
We talked about fear, when it’s appropriate and when it’s not. I also learned that in Bay County schools the students cannot wear hoodies and they can only wear clothing in their school colors. Polo’s and jeans or polo’s and khakis.
I also learned that Katie and I have some friends in common. Miss Lillian do you recognize Katie? She did the Winshape program and lived up at Pine Mountain. She knew you. She’s a bright girl with a good head on her shoulders. I really enjoyed visiting with Katie.
I drove out to meet Pam and Eddie in the early afternoon, then Pam and I kicked around Seaside for awhile. I’ll be appearing at Sundog Books on Feb. 28th. I love this store. Katie and her buds have promised to come join me.
Parked across the street from Sundog was this vehicle. Ironic, heh? I snapped a photo for you all then decided I needed to leave the owner of this vehicle a copy of Doublewide.
So I got an ARC of Doublewide from the car and was trying to figure out where exactly to put the book — I decided on the windshield — when a nice looking fellow sitting on a park bench in front of the vehicle raised his eyebrows askance at me. “Are you the owner of this?” I asked. “Yes,” he said. Then I introduced myself and we began a conversation about Doublewide and the approach I took to writing the book. Roy Drew (The self-proclaimed Prophet of Profits) told me that he was writing about Madoff 25 years ago but no one was listening. A native of Arkansas, he said he doesn’t read other people’s work much because they don’t seem to be able to keep up with him. I assured him that he would find the stories in Doublewide provocative. Roy said he used to work with Hillary Clinton on investments. He called himself a “Contributory Capitalist” and explained that it’s folks like him who keep the socialists afloat in this society. Drew said Madoff is an “Exploitative Capitalist.” No argument from me on that one. I told Drew that I didn’t believe in random encounters. The pretty blond chick who was sitting on the bench next to him said “That’s the Law of Attraction.” One of the principles in The Secret, a book she was obviously was familiar with. “The Flaw of Attraction, you mean?” said I, then suggested that after Roy reads my book, if he reads my book, that we have a discussion on our two blogs about the book. I’ll keep you posted on that. Meanwhile you can check out Roy’s blog here.
Kathie Bennett, far left, called and invited Pam and I to attend a reception on behalf of the Israel Ballet. That’s the Gypsy King there in the middle. Valdon is Armenian. We didn’t ask if he knows our friend Charlie or not but there were a few similarities, minus the hair.
Sunsets on the water make Pam smile.

Lynn Haven is a wonderful place to worship. I’m looking forward to their Hope of the Heart Women’s Conference in 2 weeks. Sounds like a interesting exchange with Roy.
You accurately proclaim that you are a prophet and that things do not always end well for us. But I want you to know that I just love your sense of humor and the gift of encouragement that God has given you so that the Prophets message may be proclaimed and provoke action (to examine our heart and allow the Holy Spirit to transform it – for when a heart is transformed so are our priorties). I have been praying that God would improve my a sense of humor for many years. Agape, Lucy
You and Drew: more of God’s poetry, I see. Nobody else could choreograph these things. For those of us who haven’t read “The Secret” and won’t, can you sum up its thesis in a sentence or two? Is it that pretty blond chicks and rich men with black vehicles mutually attract? That’s no secret!
Tell Katie hello for me.
I am at home now, almost free of the terrible back pain. Physical therapist came this morning, vows she is going to get me back on my feet soon.
I enjoy your blogs from your journey from Oregon to the Gulf coast.
Take care. Get some rest and let me know when you are coming to Georgia..
Lillian
It was Scout Sunday because this is Scout Anniversary Week which begins with Scout Sunday and ends with Scout Sabbath. And takes place annually the week that the Boy Scouts of America was chartered by Congress, which was on February 8, 1910. Making today the 100th Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America.
Lillian: I will be at the Georgia Center for the Books on March 9th 7 p.m. No dates in Columbus yet but we are working on that.
Thanks, Lucy. Good to visit with you.
Thanks, Ashley, for that update. Love having a daughter in the Boy Scouts.
Karen,
Obviously you didn’t go to my website and see more about me and my wife of 36 years (the pretty blond chick). Had you done some homework, maybe you wouldn’t have been so flippant with your comments.
Roy P. Drew
The Prophet of Profits (as proclaimed in a headline in “Arkansas Business”,a statewide business publication in AR)
Roy: Not trying to be flippant here. I did go to the website and I did read your blog. Congrads on the 36 years. But in regards to the article, there is no byline attributed to the article. No indication of whether you wrote it or someone else wrote it. And, whether it was coined by you or not, your logo uses the verbage: Roy Drew, Prophet of Profits.
At my website you can see articles written about me. There is one, “Prophet of Profits”. It was a news article about a prediction I had made about the stock market. I didn’t write my own headline.
Roy
Did you design or give approval for the design of your logo? Hey, Roy, how about reading the book and posting a review of it on this site? I’m curious as to your thoughts on the book.
I read the book yesterday. “Roy Reviews” are how I earn spending money. My fees are posted at my blog.
Roy
Roy: LOL!
Wow!
Hey Karen, when I get my review written, I’ll post it for free! “Gary Reviews” are free for the pickin’
Gary
Thanks, Gary. LOL. I look forward to that review!
