DW.Final Image [800x600]“If the prosperity gospel had a heart, Karen has stomped that sucker flat . . . Whether you live in a mansion on a cliff, a shack by still waters, or in a single-wide on cinder blocks, this is a worthy read.” — Wm. Paul Young, author of The Shack

“I have been a ‘have’ and a ‘have not’ in my life. I have found in my walk with the Lord, as Karen illustrates so well in these beautiful stories, that the riches he desires for us have nothing to do with money. I love a writer that’s not afraid to walk with real people and speak the truth of their lives. Keep shining your light Karen!” — Jeff Foxworthy

“I loved it, Karen! Funny and seductive and deadly serious…the only way I know to take on the prosperity charlatans is to do a lateral around them to their weak backsides, and you have sure done it well!” —Phyllis Tickle, author & founding editor of the Religion Department of PUBLISHERS WEEKLY.

“You have a huge fan in the Allman Brothers Band of heathens. Thank you for being brave enough to stand up and be one of our prophets. We desperately need you.”— Oteil Burbridge, bassist and vocalist, Allman Brothers

What does it mean to have the favor of God? Can we earn the favor of God? Karen Spears Zacharias took her questions on the road, interviewing people down backstreets from Pinehurst, North Carolina, to Portland, Oregon. A storyteller at heart, Karen talked to a slew of people about two things—God and money. Wealthy people like Sister Schubert who made $40 million, and poor people, like Miz Betty who lives in a van.

Zacharias shares story after story of families and individuals—some who get it right, and others who don’t have a clue. With these real-life accounts serving as modern-day parables, Will Jesus Buy Me a Double-Wide? offers an alternative to the “God, Gimme Generation,” suggesting instead that we need to be a “Gimme God Generation.”

    Hey Girl:
These things don’t write themselves you know! It takes a lot longer for me to write this stuff than it does for you to read it! Of course, you can always go back and reread ‘em. I appreciate the suport. I’d stay to chat, but I have words to type.

  8. reading “double-wide” was a holy journey. you touched my heart & soul while challenging me toward living in more Christ-like ways. it’s so easy to point my finger and judge others. i’ve been doing it all of my life. your words are those of a prophet. i may not always want to hear them, but i need them. balance, sacrifice and contentment need to be my commitment and goal. “double-wide” reminds me things can be different and we are a part of making that happen. thanks.
